When Helmut Newton was in the midst of setting up one of his shoots, he would take a quick Polaroid to test the lighting and composition to make sure the vision he had was coming to fruition. These photos—assembled by Newton’s widow June into the Taschen book Helmut Newton: Polaroids—provide insight into Newton’s creative process as he was putting the final touches on some of the most memorable shoots in photographic history.
