For Jill Greenberg, taking photographs has been a life-long obsession. “I began as a very young child,” she’s said. “I’ve been obsessed with form, color, light composition and portraiture for as long as I can remember.” Famed for both her commercial photography as well as her art projects, Greenberg’s portraits are so impactful and ethereal that people often assume she relies heavily on digital manipulation. “It could not be further from the truth,” she’s said. “The vast majority of my images are achieved 95% in-camera, which is why I regularly post my raws to my Facebook and Instagram. I am very, very picky about my lighting ratios and the images I take look like they are already retouched. This always shocks clients.” One look at the portraits on Greenberg’s Instagram feed and you’ll see why her subjects walk away so amazed.
