Backstage with Mizrahi

In the late 1980s and early ’90s, British photographer Nick Waplington was granted access to Isaac Mizrahi’s pre-runway fitting sessions with top models like Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell. Waplington has compiled the images he captured into the new book, The Isaac Mizrahi Pictures: New York City 1989-1993, which provides a peek inside the designer’s inner sanctum as well as a feel for that era’s grittier version of New York.
