We are pleased to present a collection of the absolutely stunning set photography of Outlander. Not since Helen Sloan‘s breathtaking Game of Thrones photography has any one series developed such magnificent results. Leslie Sager is the Photo Director for Outlander and has worked with 3 different set photographers for the entire run of the series. They have all contributed beautiful imagery that fully resonates the storyline of Outlander.
Neil Davidson was the set photographer for Outlander in 2014 and 2015. He has also worked on The Last King of Scotland and The Matrix Reloaded. Ed Miller became the set photographer in 2015 and 2016. Ed has also gone on to do movies like No Time To Die and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Then arrived Aimee Spinks from the UK and she has earned her position as the set photographer for the past 4 years. If the producers are smart she will stay. Her work is quite amazing in lighting, catching intimacy and capturing bigger scope battle scenes. Leslie Sager said, “Aimee has been put to the test with crowded action scenes, low light environments, and tight spaces. Somehow she always gets the shot. She’s an on the set ninja who nails composition, captures the authenticity of a moment, and looks for how the story can be told in a single frame.” We could not have said it better ourselves. Aimee has also shot on the set for Killing Eve and Gentleman Jack.
Great on the set photography like Aimee Spinks is crucial to so many aspects of marketing the film or series. It is critical to have gorgeous, in focus, well lit and composed large images that evoke the essence of the story and characters for the internet and social media. Advertising is also a critical element of marketing and very dependent on photography and sometimes it is from the set. Producers should be getting the best set photographers they can because their contribution to building awareness and growing brand loyalty is huge.
