5 DEADLY DUOS

Killing Eve, Dead To Me, The Perfection + more!

They say two is better than one, right? At least that seems to be the case in TV and streaming, where dynamic duos lead big hits. But what’s better than dynamic duos are deadly duos. These five shows take that two-person lead to the next level:

KILLING EVE

Nothing is more complicated — or sexier — than seeing Eve (Sandra Oh) and Villanelle (Jodie Comer) interact on BBC’s Killing Eve. They are supposed to be adversaries, but their keenness and wit attract them to one another. It’s a kinky, sophisticated love, and that’s the best part about it. We love this scene from season two, which you can watch on BBC America’s website.

DEAD TO ME

Linda Cardenelli and Christina Applegate star in Netflix’s newly minted dramedy Dead To Me. Both women find themselves in grief therapy, and a friendship comes to fruition — but one that includes bad mouthing and quick dialogue. Applegate plays the cynical one in the relationship, which is a refreshing take for her. And that cynicism might hurt or help when she figures out her new friend’s secret.

BODYGUARD

Richard Madden hung up Robb Stark’s fur coats from Game of Thrones and swapped it for a chic suit in Bodyguard — and we are not complaining. As the equivalent of a secret service agent, Madden protects a high-up member of parliament played by Keeley Hawes. The duo starts off cold toward each other, but then a fondness grows. Well, as much as it can grow given people threaten parliament leaders and the fact Madden’s character doesn’t seem to get too close to people.

GAME OF THRONES

We are all missing Game of Thrones, but we don’t have to. Go back and relive Arya and The Hound’s friendship/rivalry. Those two definitely made the best duo on the HBO hit, mostly because of their amazing banter.

THE PERFECTION

The latest Netflix obsession stars Get Out’s Alison Williams as a used-to-be famous cellist who seeks out her former teacher’s other renowned acquisition, played by the beautiful Logan Browning. The pair fall into a twisted, complex love that stems from… jealousy? Revenge? Both? You’ll just have to watch to see what the hype is all about.
