6 CLASSIC TWILIGHT ZONE EPS

CelebrateJordan Peele’s Reboot With These Episodes

BY: Georgia Davis

The reboot of the famous Twilight Zone is here with Get Out and Us director Jordan Peele as its narrator. Thankfully, you can stream the first episode for free (watch it above), but the rest of the season requires a CBS All Access account. If you’re looking to get spooked from the past before the present episodes scare you, turn to Netflix or Hulu to stream these seven classic episodes:

THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and this episode truly employs that idiom. When a woman goes through her 11th surgical procedure, her doctors are utterly disgusted that the surgery hasn’t worked. The strategic camera angles allow for an air of mystery.

NIGHTMARE AT 20,000 FEET

We don’t blame you if you were afraid to fly after watching “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.” It’s a must-see because it’s probably the most famous episode of the sci-fi show. It stars William Shatner as a mentally fragile person who boards a plane and tries to save its passengers from a non-existent (or is it?) monster. The reboot has already taken its spin on the popular episode, so it’s important to watch the original beforehand.

THE MONSTERS ARE DUE ON MAPLE STREET

It seems humans’ constant need for normalcy can be easily manipulated by aliens. Or at least that’s what “The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street” is trying to say. When a neighborhood’s power goes out, their mind instantly goes to an alien invasion. Us too, to be honest.

A STOP AT WILLOUGHBY

It seems the best of The Twilight Zone episodes deal with people’s mental state. “A Stop At Willoughby” might seem like a drift from the show’s universe, but it’s not. A man finds himself at a town called Willoughby every time he falls asleep on his way home from work. We won’t spoil the ending for you, but we know you won’t see it coming.

THE MIDNIGHT SUN

All of the lawmakers out there who say climate change isn’t real need to take a look at this satirical episode. The horrors of dramatic environmental shifts are hyperbolic when Earth starts to fall into the Sun. If people were thinking about climate change in the ’60s, then who are we to say it’s not real. C’mon people.

AN OCCURRENCE AT OWL CREEK BRIDGE

This installment takes place during the American Civil War when a Confederate soldier is to be hanged on Owl Creek Bridge. The episode is based on a book of the same name, which we assume is rooted in reality. But trust us, the twist ending will have you rethinking the entire third act.
