ALEXANDER SKARSGÅRD
Wolfman on a Mission in The Stand

Actor, and Swedish native, Alexander Skarsgård got his start in Hollywood in 2001, when he played Meekus in Ben Stiller’s comedy, Zoolander. Who can forget the tragic and hilarious gas station scene in which the models-Skarsgård included – torched themselves to oblivion. The role launched the now 44-year-old into an impressive career. Alexander’s theatrical reach is wide-ranging. Whether he’s playing a 1000-year-old vampire in True Blood, or an anti-hero in Big Little Lies, it is clear that this actor has talent and skill.
Upcoming Television:
Skarsgård is said to play Randall Flagg in the most recent adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. This 9 episode series to be released on CBS, will show what life looks like when the high majority of the planet’s population is destroyed by the weaponization of a deadly virus. Mother Abigail, played by Whoopi Goldberg, says eerily,“the world is a blank slate.” Alexander Skarsgård’s character, Randall Flagg, is a powerhouse villain, and Alexander’s acting may just steal the show! Remember Him When:
Big Little Lies
Directed by Reese Witherspoon, HBO’s Big Little Lies is a commercial success. Alexander plays an emotionally abusive husband to Nicole Kidman. According to IndieWire, after reading the script, Skarsgård said, “…was excited to work with[Nicole Kidman].” He added, “on the page, it was very rich. It didn’t feel like a stereotypical clichéd version of a couple dealing with domestic abuse. It was a very detailed, layered relationship.”
Legends of Tarzan
In 2014, after True Blood ended, Alexander didn’t want to get typecast as a vampire or fantasy world actor. He shifted his focus to movies in which he could play a variety of characters. In 2016, he starred in The Legend of Tarzan.
The Aftermath
In 2019 Skarsgård acted alongside Keira Knightley in the post-war drama, The Aftermath. Directed by Elliott Lester, the movie is unbelievably complicated. In it, Alexander plays a German widower who spins a web of betrayal and passion.
Upcoming Projects
Alexander has come a long way since Ben Stiller “eugoogolized” him in Zoolander. Fans of Skarsgård’s work will be pleased in the months ahead; the actor has several significant projects coming up. Alexander may be in the fourth of the Godzilla vs. Kong franchise. And that isn’t the only classic he’s after. He may also star in Robert Egger’s film, Northman, and Passing, directed by Rebecca Hall, expected to be released in 2021.
