The Babysitter, Scary Sexy
The NSFW Horror Comedy from Netflix

When Netflix is at its best, it doesn’t give a damn what you think. The best Netflix Originals are provocative works which break the rules of conventional TV and film and just go nuts with their own artistic ambition. Sometimes that manifests in the form of genre-bending shows like Orange is the New Black and American Vandal, and sometimes it results in cutting-edge drama like House of Cards and Marco Polo.
Sometimes, though, a Netflix Original Movie is absolutely bonkers in the best possible way. Arriving just in time for Halloween, The Babysitter looks like it’s gonna be the talk of the town, with gallons of blood, subversive laughs, and the punk rock attitude that Netflix wears with pride.
The Babysitter looks like it’s shaping up to be a perfect Halloween comedy, in the vein of genre classics like The Cabin in the Woods and Tucker and Dale Vs Evil. Directed by McG (Charlie’s Angels), the film follows a young boy who discovers his babysitter is actually part of a satanic cult and is looking to sacrifice him to the devil. Hilarity ensues, in the form of creatively comedic murders which result in gory geysers of blood that would make fans of The Evil Dead blush with queasy pride.
Bella Thorne, Robbie Amell, and Samara Weaving are part of the main cast of unusually beautiful cultists, while Judah Lewis plays the unlucky boy aiming to outwit and defeat his devil-worshiping captors. Having seen the crazy trailer for the film, we actually have to advise against watching the preview, as we feel it gives away too much of the movie’s plot, including numerous character deaths. Just take our word for it and watch the movie when it makes its Netflix debut on – when else? – Friday the 13th.
