BEHIND HER EYES

Thank you, Netflix, for bringing us another sexy, binge-worthy psychological thriller to satiate our passionate desire. This time, the streaming giant offers an adaptation of Sarah Pinborough’s mind-f–k of a 2017 novel, Behind Her Eyes.

Simona Brown plays Louise, a single mother who moves to a new town. When she kisses a stranger in a bar one night, she finds out the next day that it is her boss at the psychiatrist’s office where she works. The character, David, is played by Tom Bateman. Of course, a steamy affair ensues with secretive late-nights and passionate rendezvous. But things get complicated when Louise meets David’s wife, Adele (Eve Hewson), at their children’s school.  Louise and Adele strike up a friendship and form a close bond.   

If the series is anything like the book, then we’re in for a wild ride. Here is what The Guardian says about the novel: “When the first of her twists is revealed, it is fantastically creepy, if not entirely unexpected. The second twist turns the creepy factor up to 11 and is a total wrong-footer. #WTFthatending indeed – the sort that makes you go back to the beginning to check if it all pans out. And it does.”

From what we can gather from the trailer — watch it above — this twisting, turning drama is full of creepy stares and a lot of suspicions. The drama extends beyond the plot, as the lighting creates an ominous feeling of something dire ahead. With its debut marked for February 17, it’s the perfect post-Valentine’s Day binge.
