Vigil is a new six-part mystery-crime series that premiered on August 29 on BBC One. It’s about the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on a Trident nuclear submarine. The incidents bring the police into a conflict with British security services and the Navy.

The show is created by Tom Edge (Judy), and the main cast includes Suranne Jones as DCI Amy Silva, Rose Leslie as DS Kirsten Longacre, Shaun Evans as CPO Elliot Glover, Paterson Joseph as Cdr. Neil Newsome, Adam James as Cdr. Mark Prentice, Gary Lewis as DSU Colin Robertson, Connor Swindells as Lt. Simon Hadlow, Lolita Chakrabarti as Lt. Cdr. Erin Branning, Anjlin Mohindra as Lt. Tiffany Docherty, Lorne MacFadyen as Lt. Matthew Doward, Stephen Dillane as Rear Admiral Shaw, Lois Chimimba as CPO Tara Kierly, Bobby Rainsbury as Heather Cronin, and Cristian Ortega as Anderson.

Bodyguard is a crime-thriller drama series on Netflix that aired in 2018 but was renewed for a second season. Unfortunately, the new season won’t make its debut until next year or possibly 2023. It features David Budd, an officer of the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London’s Metropolitan Police Service, and his high-profile assignment.

Jed Mercurio created the Bodyguard. Stars include Richard Madden as David Budd, Sophie Rundle as Vicky, Vincent Franklin as Mike, Ash Tandon as Sharma, Gina McKee as Sampson, Pippa Haywood as Craddock, Stuart Bowman as Hunter-Dunn, Richard Riddell as Tom, and Paul Ready as Rob.

Line of Duty is the final crime series of the hour, also created by Jed Mercurio. The show follows the controversial police anti-corruption unit, AC-12. Each season focuses on a different corrupt officer.

It stars Martin Compston as Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure as Kate Fleming, Adrian Dunbar as Ted Hastings, Kelly Macdonald as Jo, Stephen Graham as John Corbett, and Keely Hawes as Lindsay Denton.
