Kate Winslet is adding another TV credit to her filmography with Mare of Easttown. It has been a decade since the British actress’s last live-action TV credit in Mildred Pierce. And, as luck would have it, Winslet will reunite with Guy Pearce, who also starred in the 2011 HBO series.

Mare of Easttown is an HBO series that follows Pennsylvania detective Mare Sheehan (Winslet). Pearce stars opposite of Winslet after Ben Miles dropped out a year ago because of scheduling conflicts. First photos from the series show a distressed Winslet as her character must balance solving the high-profile case while keeping her life together. If Winslet can’t do it, who can? The cast also includes American Horror Story alum Evan Peters as a detective. The seven-episode miniseries will air weekly starting April 18.

Winslet told Deadline that the role of Mare intimidated her: “She’s nothing like me — that’s pretty scary in a great way if you’re an actor that likes to feel terrified and exposed. I just have never done anything like this and was excited to read something that gripped me right away. I really felt the sense of not only who she was but the world she lived in and comes from; that sense of community; being so entrenched in a society that you sort of forget who you are from time to time.”

Winslet is busy on the Oscars trail right now with promotion for the lesbian persiod drama Ammonite, which brings Mare of Easttown full circle considering the film was wrapping when Winslet read the first two episodes. Mare of Easttown marks Winslet’s fourth recurring role on a live-action series — and likely her last for a few years. She currently has four films in production, including James Cameron’s long-awaited sequel to Avatar. We can’t wait to watch Winslet in this role.
