Girl Crush: Kate Moennig
The L Word star is spicing up Ray Donovan

Even though the Showtime series The L Word was an ensemble drama with a bevy of first-rate actors—including Jennifer Beals and Marlee Matlin—the show really only had one star: Kate Moennig. As the The L Word‘s bed-hopping heart throb Shane McCutcheon, Moennig infused the character with such confidence and panache that viewers of all sexual stripes found themselves falling for her. “The beauty of that character was her unabashed way of viewing life,” said Moennig of Shane. “She was so unapologetic. She was always deemed the bad girl, and that was always good to play. She was a bit dangerous but also extremely screwed up in the head. I was sad to see her go. I miss her soul. I loved the debauchery that she created in her life.” Although it’s taken a while for Moennig to latch onto another character that comes close to having the same impact as Shane, she’s finally found a great fit playing Lena, the tough, sarcastic assistant to the title character (played by Liev Schrieber), who helps famous people get out of scandalous jams with their reputations intact. Described as a “no-nonsense lesbian” (apparently that’s Moennig’s sweet spot), Lena gives the actress the chance to once again dazzle TV viewers with her distinctive look and her serious acting chops.
The fourth season of Ray Donovan is currently airing on Showtime, Sundays at 9pm.
