Hanna on Amazon
Our Favorite Female Assassin Is Back, This Time On Streaming

Film and television have always inspired and informed one another. Movies become TV shows and vice versa. It happened with Westworld and the network show Limitless, and the latest addition is the cult film Hanna.
Our favorite female assassin is back for an eight-episode series on Amazon. Based on the 2011 cult film of the same name starring the oh-so-popular Saoirse Ronan, Hanna’s father Erik (played by the sexy Joel Kinnaman in the series) raises her in the forest in the toughest conditions. She is trained to kill in brutalist fashion, and her target is Marissa (played by World War Z actress Mireille Enos). The show is pegged as equal parts thriller and coming-of-age, solidifying it as a uniquely enticing show for fans of the film.
The trailer highlights the cut-throat nature of Hanna. Literally. She cuts a woman’s throat in an interrogation room. The rest shows Hanna’s journey to avoid CIA agent and to figure out her true identity.
19-year-old Esme Creed-Miles assumes the role of the title character. With virtually no other works on her rep sheet, Creed-Miles is looking to have her breakout role in a, what seems to be, very demanding but extremely rewarding role.
Co-screenwriter of the original movie script David Farr heads the series as creator. Farr will be able to explore Hanna as a character more in the series than in the nearly two-hour film, and viewers will likely see more of her badass adventures play out.
For Amazon Prime members who can’t wait to get their hands — or rather eyes — on the new show, fear not because the first episode is available to stream now. For those who want to coordinate a free trial, Hanna officially drops March 29.
