HBO’S NEXT MOVES

Gentleman Jack, Chernobyl and Euphoria

We know you’re all watching Game of Thrones right now. Who isn’t is the real question. But when someone ascends the Iron Throne and the series ends, what are you going to watch? You don’t want to ditch HBO because they’ve sustained you for so long on drama in GoT alone. Don’t worry, the network has some tricks up their sleeves.

CHERNOBYL

The nuclear disaster that happened at the Chernobyl plant in Soviet Ukraine in April 1986 has provided the inspiration for documentaries and other series. HBO will deliver its take in the form of a five-part miniseries on May 6 starring Skarsgard dad Stellen. The event was one of the worst man-made disasters in history, and its effects ripple in today’s society as nuclear waste continues to harm the lives of many people. The gripping tale full of tension and suspense will leave you wanting more.

EUPHORIA

This coming-of-age story starring the oh-so-beautiful Zendaya will likely induce a bout of euphoria. A group of teenagers struggle to find their place in life, like so many of us do. But it’s not catered toward a younger audience. It appears all of the actors are of age, so expect a more genuine look at what high school is really like — full of sex, drugs and struggle.

GENTLEMAN JACK

The first episode of this HBO series premiered Monday, so you can watch the first episode right now. It seems we are in the era of period dramas that showcase fluid sexuality (just look at The Favourite). Our main character, Anne Lister (Suranne Jones), fights 19th century social norms in an empowering way, so definitely add this to your watchlist.
