India Eisley grew up around acting, which is why she landed her first role at 10. Her actress-mom, Olivia Hussey, was best known for portraying Juliet in the famous play-to-screen 1968 adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. From a very young age, Eisley joined her mom at auditions, which gave her a sense of being an actress.

“You’re not going into it blindly thinking that it’s all going to be great,” Eisley told Variety. “You have the reality of it — the grounded mentality that you need — because when you’re a kid, you see things go wrong; you see a family member not get a job, and you see the after-effects, so you come at it with a more realistic view, I think.”

But here’s the kicker: Eisley is tremendous, and her career is taking off.

Though she has acted in the film Underworld: Awakening, it was her first big one — she gained her footing in TV in the then-ABC Family original series The Secret Life of the American Teenager. She acted with Shailene Woodley as one of the main characters (Ashley Juergens) throughout five seasons. She says it was grueling, but helped her find her stride.

Her TV follow-up to Secret Life wasn’t another multi-series character arc. Instead, it was on Patty Jenkins’ TNT production, I Am The Night. With veteran actor Chris Pine by her side, Eisley portrayed a real-life person, Fauna Hodel, who was wrapped up in the Black Dahlia murder.

In I Am The Night, Eisley is this dynamic, sensual character, and we want to see more from the 27-year-old actress. This year, she starred alongside Riverdale actor KJ Apa in the unrated Dead Reckoning. It’s a flirty summer romance that is linked to the Boston Marathon Bombing.

Up next for Eisley is another crime drama, The Dougherty Gang, about the Florida siblings who went across state lines to kill. Keeping with the thriller theme, she will act with Sam Claflin in the upcoming Every Breath You Take and may be in the comedy One Week In Hollywood with her mother. One thing is for sure: India Eisley isn’t going anywhere.
