Twenty-three-year-old Jacob Elordi is living the dream in Los Angeles. This Australian Actor is breaking out in bad boy roles, and streamers can’t get enough of his talent or his abs. With 10.5 million Instagram followers and rumors he is dating Zendaya, Elordi joins the ranks of heartthrobs. However, that wasn’t always the case. In an interview in GQ Australia, Elordi revealed that industry insiders advised him to give up acting because of his height. “I used to be so sensitive about my height.,” he said. “Because when I first started acting, literally everybody would tell me that I’d never work because they wouldn’t be able to partner me with people, and they wouldn’t lift the camera up high enough. I basically got told that I was too tall to be an actor…I was super nervous about telling people my height. I used to try and pass for 6’2″ or 6’3,” but I’m actually 6’5″.” After filming The Kissing Booth, Elordi was relieved to find out that directors will adjust the cameras for real talent!

The Kissing Booth 1 & 2

The Kissing Booth, which debuted on Netflix in 2018, is based on Beth Reekles’ novel series of the same name, and it has received critical acclaim. Ted Sarandos, of Netflix, told Vulture that “The Kissing Booth, is “one of the most-watched movies in the country, and maybe in the world.” Elordi plays a hunk- and private school jock- Noah Flynn. Noah is drooled over by the girls at school, but eventually, he realizes that his sense of protection over ‘goodie-goodie’ Elle Evans, played by Joey King, is fueled by love. This romantic comedy is sexy and fun and makes for easy watching.

Euphoria

Created by Sam Levinson and produced by Zendaya, Euphoria is a much different animal. This episodic teen drama, which aired on HBO in 2019, follows a group of high school students, but it takes a much darker approach. We are talking about sex, drugs, addiction, abuse, gang violence, and more. The show is brave in its depiction of gender identity and gender normative behavior. It also takes a deep dive into the abuse of power constructs at various angles. Elordi proves himself to be a serious actor in his role as Nate Jacobs. Elordi told The Hollywood Reporter his feelings on toxic masculinity after playing such a violent and aggressive character. Of his character, he said, “there is a real boy there who has fallen victim to toxic masculinity that has been passed down, and there’s a reason why he is how he is. And there’s so much more thought that has to go into it when you’re playing it. It’s more of a person than a Hollywood trope.”
