JACOB ELORDI’S RISING STAR
Deep Water + He Went That Way

Over the last few years, Netflix has proven itself an expert at introducing us to hot new actors and actresses. It has given us breakout stars such as Noah Centineo, Millie Bobby Brown, Katherine Langford, and, of course, the 6′ 5″ Australian dreamboat Jacob Elordi. While Elordi started his acting career in 2015, The Kissing Booth (2018) on Netflix is genuinely where he got his big break (and we know that for sure because he won the Breakout Star award in 2018!).
The Kissing Booth is a charming coming-of-age romantic comedy starring Elordi, Joey King, and Joel Courtney. Elordi plays bad-boy-older-brother Noah Flynn, while Joey King acts as high schooler Shelly ‘Elle’ Evans, who’s best friends with Noah’s younger brother Lee Flynn (Joel Courtney). The story’s premise is that Elle has a crush on Noah, but she can’t do anything about this secret crush because she doesn’t want Lee to find out. So finally, the not-so-secret secret is revealed at–you guessed it–a kissing booth. The Kissing Booth was such a hit on Netflix that it has become a trilogy, with the third one set for release on August 11!
From there, Elordi’s fame has only skyrocketed with the help of HBO teen drama Euphoria. Euphoria focuses on a group of high schoolers who all deal with struggles ranging from sex and sexuality to drugs and violence. He plays a lead role alongside other actresses, including Zendaya, Alexa Demie, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, and Barbie Ferreira. He stars as an overly aggressive football player and toxic boyfriend, Nate Jacobs, without spoiling too much. If you haven’t seen Euphoria, let this be a warning that it doesn’t shy away from heavy topics, but it’s truly a great show. Elordi will have you hating him–which is the mark of an amazing actor. (Fun fact: Elordi has a thing for dating co-stars. He dated both Joey King and Zendaya–but hey, we’re not complaining!)
While the second season of Euphoria is still in production due to the pandemic, Elordi has done other projects. He played main character Chris in the romantic drama 2 Hearts (2020), based on a true story about strangers falling in love. He has another upcoming movie with Ben Affleck, and Ana De Armas called Deep Water, which is set to be released on January 14, 2022. Deep Water is a psychological thriller based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel by the same name about a husband who allows his wife to have affairs to avoid a divorce but then also becomes a suspect in her past lovers’ murders. We’re on the edge of our seats hearing about Deep Waters and anxiously waiting for season two of Euphoria–we can only imagine where he’ll go next in his career, but we know it looks promising.
