There have been seven actors who have played James Bond on the big screen. But when it comes to Bond, there are two actors who stand out for their portrayal of 007: the OG, Sean Connery and the most recent, Daniel Craig. Connery appeared in six, including the first five and Daniel Craig revived the series for a new generation in five films. PROVOKR is gearing up for the next Bond film, No Time To Die, by revisiting our favorite and most important movies featuring the secret agent:

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE

Dr. No may have been the first James Bond movie, but we prefer its follow-up, From Russia With Love. It marked the spectacle of James Bond action movies, solidifying its place in cinema pop culture. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing Sean Connery kick a bad guys’ face in.

From Russia With Love is available on Vudu.

GOLDFINGER

Goldfinger may be the most iconic Bond movie in the franchise’s nearly 60-year history. Honor Blackman gives one of the best performances as two-timing Bond girl Pussy Galore. Everything about this installment — Sean Connery, the villain and the story — makes us want to watch it over and over again.

Goldfinger is available on Vudu.

CASINO ROYALE (2006)

When Daniel Craig burst onto the scene in 2006’s Casino Royale, some were skeptical. Could Craig fulfill the tall, dark and suave persona that Ian Fleming created? The answer is yes. Besides the fact it was a box office hit, critics compared Craig to Connery, ranking him a close second for the best James Bond ever.

Casino Royale is available to rent on Amazon Prime.

SKYFALL

Skyfall is when the modern James Bond hit peak success. Adele sang the title track, which netted her an Oscar, and Daniel Craig was at his pinnacle of the franchise. 007 re-entered the cultural zeitgeist and experienced a new wave of recognition. The film features the classic plotline of “finding the mole,” but only a level of excitement that only a Bond can bring.

Skyfall is available to rent on YouTube.

SPECTRE

After the success of Skyfall, Sam Mendes — director of this year’s critically acclaimed war film, 1917 — returned to continue the narrative. Spectre precedes the upcoming No Time To Die. That makes it the one you have to see next.

Spectre is available to rent on Amazon Prime.
