JASON SUDEIKIS
Ted Lasso Season 2 + His Award Season Sweep

Jason Sudeikis is on a roll, to say the least. Well, in terms of his professional life. The 45-year-old actor is at his prime having created, written and starred in the AppleTV+ series Ted Lasso last year.
The series really took the world by storm with its down-to-earth humor. The show follows an American football coach who is hired by a British football team. (In case you’re lost, that’s soccer in the U.S.) As he shows in the first season, coaching isn’t all about knowledge of the sport, but how you treat one another.

“I love a great number of those shows,” he told Collider, referencing series like the British Office, “but I just felt like it’d be nice to play someone [different] as a little bit of a challenge to myself. Someone who doesn’t swear. A show that doesn’t use snark as a currency. It was an exercise in trying to prove to myself that it’s possible to be a good person and still be interesting.”
The series carries just the right level of raunchiness for something of this caliber, and Sudeikis’ character reigns supreme. From his lovable accent to his quick-witted humor, Ted Lasso is a show everyone should binge. It also has a cool backstory, as the character started out as a commercial personality for NBC sports. That turned into this brilliant idea.

And it seems a lot of people are. Suedkis is poised to take home the Emmy this year after his wins at the Golden Globes — where he donned a tie-dyed sweatshirt and delivered a Zoom speech stoned — and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Not to mention, his former partner Olivia Wilde is now dating Harry Styles, so he’ll definitely remain in the public eye.

Then, of course, the second season starts July 23 as the team tries to recover from the previous season. Watch the trailer here.
Jason Sudeikis is preaching a lesson in kindness and humor — and everyone could use a healthy dose of that right now.
