Well, it’s official, PROVOKRs. Joel Kinnaman will be on our TVs longer as the AppleTV+ series For All Mankind was renewed for a third season. Season two is slated to premiere in February, but the streaming distributor couldn’t wait to proceed with the story.

For All Mankind follows female astronauts as the U.S. races to put a woman on the moon after Russia is the country to put a man on the moon. (It’s an alternate history show.) In it, Kinnaman plays one of the male astronauts assisting the badass crew of women.

The role is one that packs even more emotion for Kinnaman, which isn’t something we always get from him in his tough guy characters. For All Mankind shows his depth. But, in a way, it’s almost like he’s returning to the roots he formed while on The Killing. On that show, he played a homicide detective helping a girl.

“I still feel to this day that the people who know me from The Killing, they’re a little fonder of me than other people,” Kinnaman told The Atlantic.

Boy, are we fond. Since his breakout role in The Killing, Kinnaman has been stacked with stellar TV performances on series like House of Cards, Altered Carbon and Hanna. What really catapulted him into mainstream territory was his portrayal of Rick Flag in Suicide Squad, which he will reprise for the franchise’s sequel. That tough guy exterior really comes in handy as the enforcer and guard of the motley group.

Joel Kinnaman is a full-fledged TV star at this point, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more of his upcoming roles.
