Kiss Me First on Netflix

Sci-Fi Drama Fuses Virtual Reality With Love

Ready to take a little acid trip? Then sit back and just try to understand what’s going on in the trailer for Netflix‘s newest British import, Kiss Me First. With the gorgeous, ethereal music by Northern Irish artist, singer and electronic composer Hannah Peel droning in the background, we meet 17-year-old Leila, a lonely video game addict looking for some kind of human connection.

While playing an immersive virtual reality game called Azana, Leila, played by Tallulah Haddon, last seen on TV in Taboo, gets invited to join in a secret group hidden within the game, called Red Pill. Soon she meets a fellow player in real life, the outrageously cool (and very fashionable) Tess, played by Simona Brown (The Night Manager). As the two grow closer, the danger within the game increases with players disappearing in their VR world and the real world.

All evidence points to Red Pill’s self-proclaimed leader, Adrian (Matthew Beard), as the culprit but as is true in most video games, don’t believe everything you see.

The six-part Kiss Me First series debuts on Netflix June 29th.
