Reese Witherspoon is about to serve us another stunning adaptation of a female author, and this time she has partnered with Scandal star Kerry Washington. The executive producer and lead star is giving Celeste Ng’s Little Fires Everywhere the TV treatment at Hulu.
The 8-part series follows Elena Richardson (Reese Witherspoon), a prim, proper, Type A personality who loves the suburb life in Cleveland, Ohio’s Shaker Heights. Elena’s life up-ends and her perspectives shift when Mia Warren (Kerry Washington) and her daughter enter her life and starts renting a home from her. The mothers have opposite methods of parenting, which often leads to misunderstandings and potential strains on what becomes an employee-employer situation. Nonetheless, Mia starts integrating herself into the life of the modern, suburban mom.
The ominous title is addressed in the first 5 seconds of the thrilling trailer, as we get a glimpse into where the story will lead. The trailer — you can watch that above — shows Elena’s house burning. Who set it ablaze is a mystery, but it seems like Mia might be involved in some way. The exciting, sexy, provocative series will likely make a splash. I mean how could it not with Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington leading the series?
