LOS ESPOOKYS SUMMER HIT

Lorne Michaels and Fred Armisen Team Up At HBO

Prepare to enter the delightfully horrific world of Los Espookys. HBO ordered six episodes of the Spanish-speaking series that creates a colorful wonderland of horror. Are you confused by those oxymorons? You’re not the only one.

The premise is simple: A group of friends band together and create a business centered around bringing clients’ horrors to life in a controlled setting. But those horrors are set on a colorful backdrop in an ambiguous time period. The Stranger Things-like music in the trailer is timeless, and the modge podge of clothing hints at no particular era. It’s a world of its own.

The show brings together the best of the best in comedy. Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels fronts this project too. Maybe that’s because SNL alum Fred Armisen, SNL writer Julio Torres and Ana Fabrega created and star in the series. With a cast and creators like that, there’s no doubt it’s going to be good. It has even been named the can’t-miss series of the summer. Now we just have to hold ourselves over until its premiere June 14.
