We’ve been a fan of the tough, gorgeous Maggie Q for years. The badass actress put her stamp on many action projects throughout her career, but she has taken on some comedic roles in the last year. In the upcoming film The Asset, Maggie leaves her secondary-character status behind and assumes the lead.

The Asset follows two competing assassins — one played by Maggie and the other played by the incomparable Michael Keaton. Their characters share a troubled history, including a mysterious incident in Vietnam. When her mentor, Moody (played by Samuel L. Jackson), is murdered, she and Keaton join up to determine what happened.

As mentioned previously, the globe-trotting film will mark Maggie’s first lead role in a major motion picture. (And with a cast like that, we’re assuming it’s going to be a success). But one look at her filmography shows that Maggie’s past projects have prepared her well for The Asset

Maggie’s breakout role was in Mission Impossible III. Starring alongside Tom Cruise, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and more, Maggie learned from the biggest actors — something Maggie even noted to Collider last year.

“I’ll take that experience from three and cherish it for the rest of my life,” Maggie said. “And also, honestly, the combination. First of all, J.J. Abrams. Come on. So, J.J., Billy Crudup and Lawrence and Rhys, Tom, Phil. You’re talking Kerri Russell and Michelle Monaghan. What a lineup of actors. Could it be better? It just couldn’t be better.”

Maggie was invited to return to the fourth and fifth Mission Impossible movies, but she was committed to a TV series at the same time. It was a little show called Nikita, which turned her into a TV star. The CW series ran for four seasons, and in it, Maggie played a sexy rogue assassin. Its tagline “looks do kill” says it all.

Since Nikita’s end in 2013, Maggie has bounced between movie and TV projects. She added another franchise to her name with the Divergent series starring Shailene Woodley. When 2016 rolled around, she landed a spot on Kiefer Sutherland’s ABC-turned-Netflix series Designated Survivor. Maggie played a slick CIA agent for three seasons.

Now, Maggie is making strides in other genres. Last year, she starred alongside Community actor Danny Pudi in The Argument, an all-too-real story about friends who recreate an argument to see who was right. The film shows off Maggie’s ability to not only kick ass with her body but also with her words. She is a deadly force.

Maggie’s filmography shows the top talent she has worked with. Now that she is the focus, we can’t wait to see another woman kicking ass on our screens.
