MARVEL’S NEXT PHASE

As if the MCU hadn’t dominated our movie screens over the past decade, they are poised to dominate our streaming sites this year.
Off the heels of Marvel mini-series WandaVision, the MCU has followed up the Disney Plus masterpiece with another in Falcon and The Winter Soldier, a buddy-superhero show between the two heroes closest to Captain America, whom begrudgingly pair up after Steve Rogers relinquishes the shield.
The two shows have set the table for things to come.
The upcoming Loki series is set to take place in June. Following its release, Black Widow’s film is set to follow in July, as well as ‘What If?’, a concept series that charts alternative routes that might’ve come to pass had many major moments went down differently in the MCU.
Also to set sail in 2021 is Martial Arts film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, featuring Nora from Queens star, Awkwafina.
Sequels for Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel will each take place between the fall, through 2022.
However the biggest coup for Marvel is the upcoming release of Ms. Marvel, a film that will follow Kamala Khan, a teenager who will brush shoulders with Captain Marvel in the hero’s sequel. She will be played by Canadian actress Iman Vellani.

The Khan character was most recently featured in the Avengers video game last year, following the Avenger fan-turned-hero from New Jersey; adding an even more diverse, personable feel to the MCU.
The next two years will be interesting, considering the twists and turns the universe can potentially have. Where will they go from here with Black Widow’s story? What will become of the legacy of Black Panther? Not to mention the anticipation of Maximoff’s inclusion in Doctor Strange? It still remains to be seen.
