Meet The Inhumans

Marvel's Newest TV Project

It’s no secret: the Marvel Cinematic Universe is taking over the world. What began as an attempt to adapt their comic book characters into the realm of motion pictures has evolved into a shared universe of both television and movies. In addition to the adventures of the Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers, the MCU also encompasses ABC’s Agents of SHIELD and Netflix’s The Defenders and The Punisher, as well as the upcoming Cloak & Dagger on Freeform.

The next television venture from the TV side of the MCU comes in the form of Inhumans, a new show which follows a civilization of enhanced beings who live in isolation in their secret city on the Moon.

In the show, as in the comics, the Inhumans are led by Black Bolt, played by Anson Mount; this is his first major project following the conclusion of his epic AMC western series, Hell on Wheels. Black Bolt‘s voice is so powerful it can destroy mountains and cities, so he must communicate with sign language. His brother, Maximus, is played by Iwan Rheon, best known for his scene-stealing turn as the murderous bastard, Ramsay, on Game of Thrones. Unlike most other Inhumans, he doesn’t have a super power, but he does have his eye on the throne of Attilan. (What is it with Rheon and trying to steal thrones?) Finally, the third lead on Inhumans is Medusa, played by Serinda Swan. This powerful redheaded Queen of Attilan has the power to control her hair like a tool – or a weapon.

The series is a special venture for Marvel in that it is being co-produced by IMAX, creators of high-end cameras and large-format theaters. The first two episodes are being shot entirely on state-of-the-art IMAX cameras, while select scenes from subsequent chapters will make use of the cutting-edge equipment.

The first two episodes of Inhumans will debut in select IMAX theaters on September 1. Following this, the series will premiere on ABC on September 29.
