Midnight Texas, scary sexy

Charlaine Harris returns with a bloody good show

HBO‘s True Blood was a true game-changer; its delectable combination of soap opera dramatics, gloriously gratuitous sex, and shockingly graphic violence proved to be a winning formula for the bold premium cable network, and the show became a water cooler staple for the duration of its run. True Blood was based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris.

Harris recently concluded her popular Midnight, Texas trilogy, and now NBC is stepping in to turn those books into a television series. While NBC may have somewhat tighter restrictions than HBO, shows like Hannibal, Constantine, and Grimm have shown that the network is willing to push the envelope in terms of racy content.

Midnight, Texas is a town where peculiar people live. Lead by a sexy psychic, Manfred (Francois Arnaud, The Borgias), a witchy woman, Fiji (Parisa Fitz-Henley, Luke Cage), and the angelic Joe (welcome back handsome Jason Lewis, Sex and the City), the town of outrageous outcasts bands together to take refuge from the outside world that fears and loathes them. Sex, violence, drama, and a compelling murder mystery ensues. We’ll learn more when the show premieres on July 24.
