MURDER, MANSON, MINDHUNTER
Two Iconic Cases, One Season On Netflix

True crime. It’s one of those things people can’t get enough of. It’s always going to perform well at the box office. And it’s going to sell off the shelves of major bookstores. And it’s going to rack up the streams on Netflix. That’s what the streaming giant has always catered toward, as the wait for Mindhunter season two is finally over.

Jonathan Groff returns as Holden Ford, an FBI agent in the behavioral psychology unit who profiles the most notorious serial killers. He is joined by Bill Trench and Wendy Carr, who are played by Holt McCallany and Anna Torv, respectively. This season, the show will explore two other well-known cases: The Manson Murders and the Atlanta murders of 1979-1981.
David Fincher returns to direct season two. The director is known for thrillers like Se7en, Gone Girl and Zodiac. So, yeah, prepare for another thrilling season.
Mindhunter is also based on the memoir of the same name by FBI agents John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker. So if you binge all of season two in a day — let’s face it, you will — then go pick up the book to read. It’s at the top of our recommendation list. Then, why not get your fill of Manson and see Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood, which touches on the Manson cult.

2019 is a Manson-crazy year. Many distributors are taking that true crime angle and the fact it has been 50 years since the killing of Sharon Tate to make some real money. We’re not complaining. We love true crime, and Charles Manson is fascinating, in a weird way. But it provokes us on how we memorialize these moments in time.
Mindhunter is available to stream August 16 on Netflix.
