NETFLIX’S MOST BEAUTIFUL THING

The Brazilian Love Story Premieres March 22

If you have peaked at the shows and movies coming to Netflix in March, you might notice a slew of foreign-language originals are scheduled to premiere. One of those is the Brazilian feminist love story Most Beautiful Thing (Coisa mais Linda).

The series follows Maria Luiza (Maria Casadevall) who moves from São Paulo to the lustrous and progressive Rio de Janeiro with her husband, Pedro. When Pedro goes missing, Luiza remains in Rio — much to her strict father’s dismay — and transforms Pedro’s fancy new restaurant into a vibrant Bossa Nova club.

The show takes place in ’50s and ’60s Brazil during the cultural rise of Bossa Nova, a jazz-like style of music. The series will feature eight, one-hour episodes produced by the company Prodigo Films. The feminist tale of rebirth and self-discovery was created by Heather Roth and Giuliano Cedroni with scriptwriters Pati Corso and Leo Moreira crafting the beautiful and relevant narrative.

Most Beautiful Thing marks the fourth Netflix Original to come from the South American country. The sci-fi drama 3% was renewed for a third season, and Netflix added O Mecanismo and Samantha! to its lineup.

As people turn to streaming as its main source of entertainment, viewers will be exposed to different cultures through the accessible medium. Viewers can get comfortable rewatching Shameless for the 100th times (and who can blame you?), but why not check out something totally foreign and learn while watching? We hope you choose the latter.

Most Beautiful Thing premieres March 22 on Netflix.
