Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood gave us a fairytale ending to one of the most notable incidents in the industry’s history — the killing of Sharon Tate by the Manson Family. The revisionist history model gave viewers a look at the biggest people in the biz in the late ’60s. For your viewing pleasure, we’ve gathered a list of must-sees from the real-life characters mentioned in the instant classic:

ROMAN POLANSKI

By the time he met Sharon Tate, Roman Polanski had directed two of his biggest films: Repulsion and Rosemary’s Baby. The latter is what catapulted Polanski into household recognition, and many actors wanted to work with the visionary. He took the horror genre and made it his own twist on modern life. Polanski, who was married to Sharon Tate and was the father of her unborn child, was filming when Tate was murdered by the Manson Family. Rosemary’s Baby is available on Hulu, and Repulsion is available on YouTube.

SHARON TATE

Sharon Tate would have been the biggest name in the industry had she not been slaughtered. The actress’ role as Jennifer North in Valley of the Dolls was her breakout and best role. She captured what it was like for a woman of the time: an overly sexualized object. Her depth and beauty is timeless. It’s just a shame we didn’t get to see where her career would have taken her. Valley of the Dolls is available on YouTube.

BRUCE LEE

Quentin Tarantino’s interpretation of Bruce Lee is not getting much love, as critics are saying he was not actually that arrogant. With all of that aside, Lee’s most iconic role was in Enter The Dragon. Perhaps it’s mostly due to the circumstances around it. Bruce Lee died one month before the film premiered. Lee was only 32 when he died from complications with prescription painkillers, but some suspect he was cursed. Either way, most of the characters in Once Upon A Time did not have a happy ending IRL. Enter The Dragon is available on Cinemax.

STEVE MCQUEEN

When it comes to Steve McQueen, everyone will recommend The Great Escape, and for good reason. But we at PROVOKR want to turn you on to new things. If you’ve never seen The Thomas Crown Affair, add the romance heist film to your watchlist ASAP. Faye Dunaway stars opposite McQueen, and the pairing is one of the sexiest in all of cinema.

SPAHN RANCH

Spahn Ranch played an important part in the Manson narrative. The old filming location for Westerns was owned by George Spahn, who was seduced by a member of The Family. Before it was deserted and turned into the cult’s home, the hit show Bonanza was filmed there. Crazy, right? You’ll never be able to watch old reruns on cable the same after knowing that.
