It’s official, everyone: Selena Gomez is making her way back to your television screen! While she’s been in many movies–including Hotel Transylvania, Spring Breakers, and The Fundamentals of Caring–she hasn’t been a lead in a series since Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place ended in 2012. So it’s about time she made her way back to TV (though she does have cooking show Selena + Chef on HBO Max, that’s not the same)!

She, along with comedic icons Steve Martin and Martin Short, stars in Hulu’s new upcoming comedy mystery series, Only Murders in the Building. The three of them play neighbors Mabel (Gomez), Charles (Martin), and Oliver (Short). They live in harmony together in an Upper West Side apartment complex until a murder happens in their building. Because of their love for true crime, the trio decides to help solve the case, only to realize that the killer may be living among them. Not only are Martin, Gomez, and Short starring in the series, but they’re all executive producers along with John Hoffman, Jamie Babbit, This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal.

In an interview with Vogue, Martin expressed that Gomez was someone he was determined to have in the series:

“You get a list of names, you know, you’re thinking, Sure, they’d be good, they’d be good, and then they say, ‘What about Selena Gomez?’ and it’s just—yes, of course. There was no question except ‘Can we get her?’ We knew she would enhance the show in so many ways, the number one being talent. Her performance is rich and adult. She’s learned to underplay when necessary. Marty and I are pretty manic, and she’s this solid, solid rock foundation. She’s nicely, intensely low-key.”

Last September, Gomez shared in an interview with Variety that she “thinks [the series is] going to bring a lot of joy to people.” She also mentioned that Martin and Short were enjoyable co-stars.

With that said, peek at this trailer to see them in action together and see what to expect from the series:

It is very clearly an all-star cast, and while we wish the show would air ASAP, we can expect it to be available on Hulu beginning on August 31. The episodes will be released weekly–so be sure to keep your Tuesdays open!
