The show everyone was talking about last year is finally here. The biographical series Pam & Tommy tackles the aftermath of the sex tape seen worldwide from Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee of Mötley Crüe.

Lily James and Sebastian Stan transform seamlessly into the late 90s icons — James especially. She nails the breathy, seductive tone Anderson is known for, and of course, the makeup and costume department pulled out all the stops to transform her into the total babe that Anderson is.

The sex tape is infamous in pop culture lore. Two men (played by Nick Offerman and Seth Rogen) get their hands on the tape and distribute it. These slick dealers couldn’t just spread it across video stores, though. No, they wanted to retain some level of anonymity. So they turned to the internet — and they forever changed the world of porn. They sold VHS copies of the honeymooning couple getting it on. (Anderson and Lee famously got married four days after meeting.)

The series is sympathetic to Anderson. “I’m on that tape, same as you,” Stan’s Tommy says, while James’ devastated Pam points out, “But this is worse for me.” And right she is. The fallout was devastating for her and posed legal issues.

The trailer — watch it below — provides insight into what you can expect from the series, including multiple 90s nostalgia and lessons applicable to today. It’s all set to an aptly timed cover of Meat Loaf’s “I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That).” You may recall, the singer died earlier this month.

Pam & Tommy comes from the director of I, Tonya, Craig Gillespie. His style is ever-present throughout the series, and the story of reclamation is all the same. So if you liked I, Tonya, you’re bound to like Pam & Tommy. We can’t wait to watch, along with you, PROVOKRs.
