Ryan Murphy’s FX Hit Returns

Okay, everybody. Your favorite not-so-guilty pleasure is back in all of its LGBTQ glory. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Steven Canals’ FX drama Pose returned June 11, and it’s already at the top of our binge list.

Pose gained notoriety in its first season, which aired in 2018, for its well-represented cast. Trans individuals play the trans characters, and all of them are part of the LGBTQ community. It’s a threshold all TV should strive to meet when casting their shows. But, hunny, let’s get to the plot of season two.

In the second season, we hop forward in time to the 1990s. It’s just as the drag ball scene starts thriving with the release of Madonna’s “Vogue.” And you bet Billy Porter does a hell of a job introducing the famous song as his character Pray Tell. Porter was upped to a co-lead position alongside the leader of the House of Evangelista, Blanca (played by the beautiful Mj Rodriguez). The outfits are stunning, the dancing is fabulous and our eyes are glued to the screen as we watch our favorite characters.

But off the dance floor we see the full effects of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. People are dying, and the community has to band together more than ever. The second season is bound to resonate just as much as the first.
