Last fall, as the star of the NBC drama Blindspot—the highest rated new series of the season—Jaimie Alexander made one of the most audacious entrances in TV history: She crawled naked out of a duffel bag in Times Square (watch the clip). As Jane Doe—the tattoo-covered mystery woman who’s lost her memory and is trying to piece the details of her evidently treacherous life together—Alexander gets to veer between moody, emotional scenes and kick-ass action sequences. Her runway-model looks and brooding intensity adds a fierce presence to the show. During filming of Blindspot’s second season (which debuts September 14 at 8pm), Alexander threw herself into the role a bit too forcefully. “Broke my nose today during a fight scene,” she tweeted. “Somehow I feel that makes me cooler.” Like her character, the actress’s body is replete with body ink—but only one that can be caught on camera, an “ES” on her wrist. It stands for “elephant shoe.” “If you mouth it, it looks like you’re saying, ‘I love you,’ explained Alexander. “For me, it’s just one of those things that reminds me to be childlike and sort of look at the world through innocent eyes and just to be open minded.”
