QANON: THE SEARCH FOR Q
Vice's Series Uncovers The Truth
The 2020 presidential election was plagued with conspiracy theories and behind the outrageous claims was QAnon. The disproven and discredited far-right conspiracy theorists allege that a cabal of Satan-worshipping, cannibalistic pedophiles ran a global sex-trafficking ring and plotted against former President Donald Trump. For several years, a figure called Q has promised the cabal will soon be exposed and defeated by Donald Trump.

The bizarre claims have gained a disturbing amount of support from the public. A recent NPR/Ipsos poll revealed 17% of Americans believe a group of Satan-worshipping, child enslaving elites who want to control the world exists. Equally as disturbing is another 37% aren’t sure about the false allegations. If this leaves you scratching your head and wondering about the lunacy, it’s equally as shocking to know two women who support QAnon, Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene, are now members of the U.S. Congress.

Vice TV will launch a 3-part docuseries, QAnon-The Search For Q, that examines the movement and its powerful ability to indoctrinate a large following. “Our docuseries takes a step back to examine the who, what, and why behind QAnon so that we can more effectively recognize its radicalizing impact on society, as well as learn to engage with the rising number of Americans who adhere to the theories pushed by Q,” said Bayan Joonam and Marley Clements, the series co-creators.
Joonam and Clements speak to people consumed by the conspiracy, revealing the impact on their lives and on their families. They trace the roots of QAnon from the first Q “drop” that appeared in fall 2017. The series delves into the murky online world where Q emerged. They speak with crucial QAnon figures, including Manuel Chavez III, who claims to have come up with the idea of Q as part of a LARP (live-action role-playing game); and former CIA officer Robert David Steele, who’s become a revered figure in QAnon circles. They also speak to Fredrick Brennan, founder of 8chan, where Q made its home, but has since left the site and now works to expose Q’s truth and its new site owner, Jim Watkins.

But, now that the Trump Presidency is over and the Biden/Harris inauguration went off without a hitch, can the QAnon survive? Will it spin new theories or lose interest and return to reality?

Qanon-The Search for Q drops January 26th on Vice TV.
