RATCHED
Ryan Murphy's Sarah Paulson As Nurse Ratched

Ryan Murphy is a media powerhouse, cranking out projects left and right. If you thought he was finished for the year after releasing Hollywood and season two of The Politician on Netflix, think again. He has a new show hitting the streamer September 18 with a domineering protagonist in Nurse Ratched, played by Sarah Paulson.

The aptly-named series Ratched documents the story of the One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’s warden. Ratched happens before the 1962 novel and the 1975 film starring Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher. The series chronicles Nurse Ratched as a World War II nurse and her rise to tyranny at Salem State Hospital. Ratched arrives to learn groundbreaking procedures and practices, such as hypnosis and lobotomies. What she wants, though, is absolute power.

Paulson isn’t trying to fill Louise Fletcher’s shoes. Instead, she has her own interpretation. “People may be looking for Louise Fletcher, and they’re not going to find her, and I don’t want to upset them,” Paulson said. Along with Paulson, we’re getting a Murphy-caliber cast featuring Sharon Stone, Cynthia Nixon, Judy Davis, Finn Wittrock, Jon Jon Briones, Corey Stoll and more.

The bone-chilling trailer gives us a peek into the world Murphy and Ian Brennan created. Its eeriness is palpable and the score will get your heart racing. The set feels plucked right out of the 50s with the signature Murphy look. Fans of American Horror Story will love this. If the series’ trailer does this to us in two minutes, we can’t wait to see what it does in eight episodes.
