RETURN OF THE RIVERDALE 4
Cole, Lili, KJ + Camila 7 Years Later

It is finally here.
After a near-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the popular CW drama Riverdale hits the TV screen this week. Following the abrupt end of Season 4, they will finish the plot for its season finale.
With CW’s teaser highlighting the tapes that unveil the town’s dark past, we can only think what will come of the climactic swan song for the soon-to-be graduates of Riverdale High.
However, fans and cast members alike anticipate a 7-year time skip in which every character will adopt a more mature, refined version of themselves.
Veronica, played by Camila Mendes will be married. Her husband will be Chad Gekko, portrayed by Pretty Little Liars’ Chris Mason. The character will be an affluent “alpha dog” from Wall Street, threatened by her affinity for her past; Riverdale and Archie Andrews (KJ Apa). Of course, Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse will return as Betty and Jughead respectively, though this season they won’t be in an off-screen relationship too.

Also revealed was that the pregnancy of Vanessa Morgan and the exits of Marisol Nichols and Skeet Ulrich, will all play out in the upcoming episodes. Morgan, who plays Toni, serpent and love interest of Cheryl Blossom, had announced her pregnancy late last year. Soon after, it was revealed that Morgan will not only reprise her role but will be openly pregnant as her character.

For the FP and Hermione fans, it’s a bit more complex. Ulrich was to leave the show upon the 5th season, as the actor stated he “got bored creatively” on an Instagram Live last May.
Nichols, who will be the executive producer and star on her own project, initially stated that her time on the show will come to a close. However, with the pandemic halting tapings of Season 4, it opened the door for the actor to return to the series, but on a lighter schedule. Nichols had expressed her gratitude to become a recurring character on the show in an interview on ET, as she and Ulrich have agreed to a proper sendoff to their respective characters.

The last wrinkle to the Riverdale is Glee‘s Erinn Westbrook, who will be the ambitious granddaughter of Pop Tate that plans to franchise the famous diner.
For arguably the best, “who done it?” shows going, there’s a lot of changes added to the mix. As a 7-year time skip may bring good to characters, or bad. (Pour one out for Ms. Blossom).
