Ryan Murphy: King of TV
The Creator's 6 Greatest Hits ft. Pose + Glee

Ryan Murphy is the most recognizable producer and creator in television right now. He boasts a stellar record at FX, and he will take his talents to Netflix for his new shows. He’s covered biographies like Feud: Bette and Joan, but he’s also produced campy horror shows like Scream Queens. There are six titles that stand out among Ryan Murphy’s many titles:
GLEE
Glee launched Murphy into household success. The Fox show starring Lea Michele and the late Cory Monteith follows a high school show choir led by Will Schuster (played by Broadway star Matthew Morrison). The musical resonates with many high schoolers who face problems at school. Glee ended its run in 2015, but it’s still regarded as one of the best broadcast TV shows of all time.
NIP/TUCK
Before Glee, there was Nip/Tuck. Yes, you might not have realized that’s the same person. The series follows two plastic surgeons and says a lot about beauty standards of the time. The 2003 show ended after 100 episodes.
AMERICAN HORROR STORY
You’ve probably heard of this little show on FX. It’s only the most popular anthology series of this generation. Each season follows a different, spooky storyline, but there are certain overlaps between some seasons. The ninth season will debut Sept. 18, and it will highlight the slasher films of the 1980s.
POSE
Pose has been the breakout hit of the year, and that shows on Twitter when the new episode airs on FX every week. The show is set in the 80s and 90s during the time of the drag ballroom scene. But the conflict go beyond the dance floor. The show puts LGBTQ people of color at the forefront, and shows the effects of the HIV epidemic at the time. It’s a gripping story that will have you waiting for the latest season.
AMERICAN CRIME STORY
Ryan Murphy is known for creating compelling anthologies, and American Crime Story is definitely one of them. The first season follows the OJ Simpson trials and the second is about the assassination of Gianni Versace. With season three premiering during an election year, Murphy decided to make it about the Monica Lewinsky Scandal that led to the resignation of President Bill Clinton. Booksmart actress (and younger sister of Jonah Hill) Beanie Felderstein is set to play Lewinsky. While you’re waiting for its September 2020 debut, we recommend the first season if you haven’t already watched it.
THE POLITICIAN
The Politician marks Murphy’s first Netflix Original Series. Its all-star cast is led by Dear Evan Hansen star Ben Platt who plays a high schooler on his quest to become the President of the United States. September 27 can’t come soon enough.
