Crazy, Great Cast in American Crime Story
After the success of American Crime Story’s first two seasons, The People Vs. OJ Simpson (2016) and The Assassination of Gianni Versace (2018), the anthology series, is finally returning for a third season. Impeachment will focus on the aftermath of the Clinton and Lewinsky scandal. It will be based on Jeffrey Toobin’s book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.
The season will star Beanie Feldstein as Monica Lewinsky, Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones, Clive Owen as President Bill Clinton, Edie Falco as Hillary Clinton, Billy Eichner as Matt Drudge, Betty Gilpin as Ann Coulter, and Taran Killam as Steve Jones. Since the series focuses on real-life events, many people are needed to make the ideas come alive. For example, the series has a long list of executive producers: Larry Karaszewski, Scott Alexander, Brad Falchuk, Brad Simpson, Nina Jacobson, Dante Di Loreto, Alexis Martin Woodall, Tom Rob Smith, Daniel Minahan, and, perhaps the most well known, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy.
Beanie Feldstein, most known for her roles in Booksmart, Lady Bird, and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, is incredibly excited to play the role of Monica Lewinsky. She told the Daily Beast, “I am so, so honored to be portraying [Lewinsky]. And to be doing it with Ryan Murphy is out of my wildest dreams. He is sort of the king of television, and his work is so profound.”
AHS legend Sarah Paulson feels quite the opposite about playing Linda Tripp, the whistleblower who worked alongside Lewinsky at the Pentagon (she recorded all of her conversations with Lewinsky!) Paulson told The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m not going to be looking for a way to make [Tripp] likable—I don’t really like to do anything like that. I’m not worried if people like me as Linda Tripp. That’s not my job.”
As you can see, everything checks out to make sure that this season will be one of the most unforgettable. We can’t wait to see how the famous quote, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman,” came to be, and we sure as hell can’t wait to relive the drama (even though it is most definitely not the most incredible story).
