STEAMY STREAMING: SEPTEMBER
Transparent, Untouchable, The Deuce + more!

August was a slow month for TV (unless you were watching bachelor In Paradise). The summer shows are coming to a close, but fall TV is right around the corner. Streaming platforms will bring back some fan-favorite shows, and Hulu will add a documentary about Harvey Weinstein. Here are the shows you should keep an eye on in September:
UNTOUCHABLE
The #MeToo Movement is now almost two years old, so its effects are going to start playing out on big and small screens. Hulu will gain the documentary Untouchable, which chronicle the rise and fall of Harvey Weinstein. The film directed by Ursula Macfarlane allows the women who accused him of sexual misconduct to come forward and tell their stories in an undoubtedly emotional way. Because of the film’s topic, it might not be suitable for all audiences.
TRANSPARENT MUSICALE FINALE
Amazon’s hit show Transparent hit a major bump in the road when its lead actor, John Lithgow, was fired after harassing two transgender crew members on set and following sexual harassment allegations. But creator Jill Soloway didn’t think it should stop there. To no one’s surprise, John’s character, Maura, is killed off in the musical finale that will air Sept. 27. The feature-length finale will definitely give fans of the show a chance to say goodbye.
ROOM 104
The epic HBO anthology series returns Sept. 13 with a slew of new storylines that will leave you satisfied and terrified. The series documents the happenings of room 104 in an “average American hotel.” It seems the fall season gets a lot busier, so if you’re looking for something easy to watch, this is definitely a must-watch.
THE DEUCE
Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco back in The Deuce for its bittersweet final season. At the time season three takes place, the porn business is ramping up and more distributors are turning to VHS. That’s good for some people, but not for the traditional strip club. Prepare to hear more about The Deuce come Golden Globe time because Maggie deserves that award for her under appreciated performance.
THE SPY
Sacha Baron Cohen is one of the best disguise actors ever, and he will do it again with Netflix’s The Spy. The mini-series is based on the life of Eli Cohen, an Israeli spy from the first half of the ’60s. Eli Cohen is known for infiltrating the hierarchy of Syria, so the series is sure to be a captivating tale of a real-life individual.
ELITE
The best part about Netflix is the platform makes it easy to celebrate international titles. One of its most successful is the Spanish crime drama Eilite. The series takes place at an elite school in Spain where its students compete for success. That ultimately leads to murder. Imagine a Spanish version of Pretty Little Liars. With the third season premiering soon, you need to catch up ASAP.
