The Joys of Her Story

With shows like Transparent and Orange is the New Black, the TV industry has finally gotten around to acknowledging the existence of the transgendered community, but the six episode web series Her Story—created by and starring transgendered people—one-ups traditional TV’s accomplishments by offering a more nuanced and realistic depiction of the trans experience. Her Story digs deeper into exploring personal issues like sex and dating, and also delves into what it’s like to navigate a professional life as a transgendered person. The episodes are only about 10 minutes long, but the acting, writing and filmmaking is so well-done that you get more immersed in this drama than most of TV’s hour-long shows.
