Despite the global pandemic, it’s been a hell of a year for Shailene Woodley and her stellar 2020 isn’t over yet.
Earlier this year, Woodley was caught in a love triangle in the incredibly sexy Endings, Beginnings (watch it on HBO Max) with two of the hottest actors — Jamie Dornan and Sebastian Stan — vying for her touch and attention. But, as someone with different relationships, Woodley might ask, “Why not both?”
“Listen, I’m someone who has experienced both an open relationship and a deeply monogamous relationship in my life, and I think we’re in a day and age where there should be no rules except for the ones designed by two people in a partnership — or three people, whatever floats your boat,” she told The New York Times. “But there has to be a level of responsibility in any relationship dynamic, and that responsibility is simply honesty and communication and trust. Apart from that, it’s really none of our business what people choose to do with their lives.”
Woodley has been acting since age 5, getting a break in 2008 on ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager. She appeared for nearly six years and depicted the teenage pregnancy experience. She also starred in the Divergent trilogy and off-camera is active in multiple environmental causes.
Now, Woodley is in a new career phase, complete with opportunities for critical success. Her role in HBO’s Big Little Lies jump started her modern mainstream success. She is one of the show’s struggling mothers, along with Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, and Zoë Kravitz.
Up next is a possible Oscar contender The Mauritanian with an impressive lineup that also stars Jodie Foster, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tahar Rahim, and Zachary Levi. The thriller takes place at Guantanamo Bay, where a detainee is held without charges against him. Foster and Woodley are leading the team, trying to figure out why.
