Amazon Prime’s lineup keeps getting hotter. As Prime discusses acquiring MGM’s catalog, the streaming service continues cranking out content. The most recent is Solos, an anthology series starring some of your favorite people.
Now, brace yourselves, PROVOKRs, because the Solos cast is insane: Anne Hathaway, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Constance Wu, Anthony Mackie, Uzo Aduba, Dan Stevens, and Nicole Beharie. Each episode of the limited series follows a different character as they independently navigate the sci-fi world. That’s all that binds these people together, as Morgan Freeman says in the trailer: “We all feel alone in different ways. In feeling alone, we are somehow all together.”
The trailer shows each character isolated in their world. Coming off the success of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mackie finds himself cloned in Solos. Mirren is in space, while Hathaway is tucked away trying to communicate with the outside world. Stevens receives guidance from Freeman, and Aduba lives life in a greenhouse-like location. Constance Wu looks positively dreamy as a fairy-like creature.
Perhaps Amazon Prime subscribers will find similarities in style and prose to its other series, Modern Love. Debuting May 21, this deeply personal character study will bring some much-needed connection to your life — even if it is through a screen.
