STATE OF THE UNION
A 10-Minute Show On SundanceTV

A lot can happen in 10 minutes, and sometimes that’s all you need. Conversations can take place, or you can limit the talking and get right down to business. But when you take 10 minutes here and there to talk to about where it all went wrong, that time can add up.
That’s the premise of SundanceTV’s series State of the Union, but don’t worry, it’s not about the President of the United States. A couple — comprising Chris O’Dowd and Rosamund Pike — meets in a bar for 10 minutes before every marital therapy session. Those 10 minutes give viewers insight into their lives and show how they got to this point.
The first season, which premieres May 6, is 10 episodes long. So if you’re doing the math at home, that is 100 minutes of TV time. A whole season of State of the Union is just 18 minutes longer than the Battle of Winterfell episode of Game of Thrones. That’s insane!
State of the Union debuted at the Sundance Film Festival. It’s set to make an appearance at Tribeca Film Festival two days before its SundanceTV premiere. The show is written by Nick Hornby and directed by Stephen Frears, so expect quick-witted banter with an artistic flair. And because it’s only 10 minutes long, that means you have no excuse to not watch it. Just call it “me time.”
