Steamy Streaming: Bong Joon-ho
Parasite, The Host, Okja + more

In case you’ve been living under a metaphorical rock, the Academy crowned a new Best Director winner: Bong Joon-ho. The South Korean filmmaker made the best film of the year in Parasite. (More on that later). The historic win highlights the director’s impressive filmography. Take a look at five films you should see from Bong Joon-ho:
OKJA
Sometimes the deepest connections we make aren’t with other humans. That’s the fundamental premise of the 2017 film Okja. A girl has to save her beastly friend, Okja, from animal activists and a world of corporate greed. Tilda Swinton and Jake Gyllenhaal star in the should-have-been Oscar-nominated film.
Okja is available on Netflix.
THE HOST
If you’re in the mood for something a little spookier, check out Bong Joon-ho’s monster flick, The Host. The South Korean film takes place in its capital of Seoul where a creature lurks in the murky waters.
The Host is available on Tubi.
SNOWPIERCER
Bong Joon-ho loves evaluating the class system through film. This dystopian cult classic stars Chris Evans and Tilda Swinton on a train that harbors the remainder of the world’s population. Climate change has ruined the Earth, but the impoverished aren’t going to let it ruin their lives.
Snowpiercer is available on Netflix.
MEMORIES OF MURDER
Bong Joon-ho even does true crime thrillers! Two detectives serve as the protagonists for Memories of Murder. The neo-noir feel is unlike any of his other films, so definitely check this one out.
