It looks like the new year is bringing plenty of hot content to keep us cozy in the winter months. Returning shows and new buzz-worthy arrivals will keep you occupied while holed up at home. We suggest you make it your new year’s resolution to binge all of these shows when they hit their respective platforms:

DRACULA

Netflix invites you to consume its adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic novel, Dracula. The teaser shows a gruesome, dark world, so this won’t be like those Twilight era ventures we all love and adore. Instead, you’ll find other reasons to like this series, like its symbolism and hot lead, Claes Bang.

AJ AND THE QUEEN

OK, hunnies, RuPaul is coming to Netflix. The drag queen icon and host of RuPaul’s Drag Race stars and acts as frontrunner for AJ and the Queen. RuPaul’s character is drag queen Ruby Red who needs money, so she rents an RV for a cross country tour — but she’s not alone. Accompanying Ruby Red is a kid named AJ, a stowaway with a plan.

ARES

Ares may be the God of war, but it’s also the name of Netflix’s upcoming Dutch series. The dark thriller centers around a secret, hooded society and a girl who joins its ranks. Only its members know what the cult-like group is about, but we have a feeling it’s not what it’s marketed to be. PROVOKR is excited for this daring project.

SEX EDUCATION

People fell in love with the first season of the British comedy Sex Education, and now we don’t have to wait much longer for season two. The series focuses on Otis (Asa Butterfield) as he gives sex advice to his high school peers. The witty, compelling dialogue coupled with the teenage embarrassment makes for an entertaining binge you won’t regret.

SHRILL

Saturday Night Live star Aidy Bryant is back for season two of her hit show Shrill. The Hulu Original presents a body positive message while not being overbearing. And with showrunners Lorne Michaels and Elizabeth Banks calling the shots, you’re likely to laugh your butt off — a workout we can get behind.

THE OUTSIDER

If you loved Cynthia Erivo in Harriet, then you need to check out HBO’s The Outsider when it premieres January 12. The Stephen King adaptation has all the right ingredients to be a success: murder, mystery and Jason Bateman. The intriguing narrative and complex characters will make for an interesting watch.

AVENUE 5

Veep creator Armando Iannucci wasted no time between the finale of the Julia Louis-Dreyfus led comedy and his new project, Avenue 5. This time the comedy is taken to space, where House star Hugh Laurie mans a spacecraft for tourists. Alongside Laurie is star Josh Gad, who serves as the owner of the space tourism company. If the series is half as funny as Veep, then Avenue 5 will have a long shelf life.

LITTLE AMERICA

Writers and real-life couple Kumail Nanjiani and Emily Gordon come together to tell eight stories of immigrants in America. The narrative series Little America on AppleTV+ is both heartwarming and crucial at this time in American history. If you loved the writing of The Big Sick, then you’ll love this, too. PROVOKR will definitely tune in — you should too.
