STEVE CARRELL: SPACE FORCE
The Office Star and Creator Blast Off

In June 2018, President Donald Trump announced the formation of a sixth branch of the military: Space Force. With a logo that suspiciously resembles Star Trek, Space Force, it would protect U.S. satellites and also perform other “space-related tasks.” In a new series coming to Netflix, Space Force, Steve Carrell and his motley crew have to figure out what in the hell they’re supposed to do.
The series hails from Greg Daniels, creator of The Office and Parks and Recreation. It’s The Office reunion we’ve been waiting for and our fingers are crossed that some of our favorite actors will make appearances. Greg Daniels’ workplace-themed comedies serve as the launching pad for Space Force, which will follow a similar mockumentary format. The satirical series puts Steve Carrell in the lead role of Mark R. Naird, a pilot who dreams of running the Air Force. Instead, he must put another man on the moon and reach total space dominance using the Space Force. No big deal. If his character is anything like Michael Scott, there is sure to be plenty of mismanagement and absolute shenanigans.
The teaser trailer — watch it above — reinforces the show’s expected tone, but it doesn’t reveal the plot. We’ll have to wait until the May 29 premiere for that. The series features a strong lineup of actors, including John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Noah Emmerich, Alex Sparrow and Don Lake. If Space Force is as binge-able as The Office, we’re going to have a new obsession to watch.
