Color Me 80s

Stranger Things Undergoes An 80s Glow Up

When we me the Hawkins kids of Netflix’s hit show Stranger Things, people were transported to 1983. Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Will (Noah Schnapp) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) played Dungeons and Dragons in the basement of a 70s-style abode. That wasn’t the only remnants of the 70s. The characters wore muted colors and three-striped t-shirts with Chuck Taylors (aka Converse high-tops). For season three, that look is being ditched for neon colors, high ponytails held back with colorful scrunchies and bold patterns that carried into the 90s.

It’s a different year. We are in the summer of 1985, and our favorite characters are taking that into their wardrobe thanks to the show’s costume design team. The year is that of bubblegum popping and experimentation with colors and fabrics. The geometric patterns reign supreme, and it’s shown in the trailer in Eleven’s yellow button down with tons of shapes.

The beast are the Upsidedown are back, and the crew is going to have to battle them for the third year in a row. Steve (Joe Keery) and Dustin are teaming up for another round, so it’s going to be an eventful season. And the best part about it all is the cast is going to look absolutely fabulous.

Stranger Things 3 debuts July 4 on Netflix.
