Let’s face it; we’re running out of streaming options. We’ve seen all of the major shows of the year and then went back to watch hits from years ago. But what next? If you’ve finally hit a streaming rut, we implore you to check out these eleven shows that you may not have caught when scrolling through the many choices.

RIPPER STREET

Netflix’s Ripper Street is an iSpy book that comes to life but with Game of Thrones actors. OK, that’s pretty much every British production, but I digress. The crime drama ran for five seasons and takes place where Jack the Ripper reigned. You’ll be surprised how quickly you consume this.

YOUR HONOR

Showtime’s latest hit has flown under the radar, which is surprising considering iconic dad Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) plays the lead character. The three-part legal drama finds Cranston’s character fighting for his son when he gets mixed up with a crime family.

QUEEN OF THE SOUTH

Alice Braga is our 2020 girl crush. After watching her in Luca Guadagnino’s We Are Who We Are, we went back and watched her in an adaptation of a Brazilian series Queen of the South. The USA drama follows Braga’s character as a drug lord. Queen of the South is available to stream on Netflix.

MARCELLA

We love seeing more women in lead roles on detective series. Season three of this steamy British hit dropped in June, so you have plenty to binge on Netflix.

HARLOTS

Hulu Original Harlots takes the sexy period piece to a whole new level. The series, which is three seasons deep, follows a woman who runs a brothel. You can’t even begin to imagine the shenanigans.

THE GREAT

Speaking of Hulu period pieces, this 2020 venture stars Elle Fanning as Catherine the Great, who tries to manipulate her husband, played by Nicholas Hoult. If you liked The Favourite, this show is for you. It features much of the crew that worked on the Oscar-winning drama.

HANNA

If you loved the movie Hanna with Saorise Ronan, then you should like the Amazon Prime series of the same name. Hanna dives deep into the titular character’s background with multiple episodes to flesh out the character arch.

BABYLON BERLIN

Oh, how we love Babylon Berlin. The extravagant, neo-noir crime series hails from Germany. Each crime, set in the 1920s, presents its challenges. We can’t wait until season four hits Netflix.

THE RAIN

It’s important to point out that The Rain premiered pre-pandemic. The Netflix Original takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where most of the population is wiped out by disease. The Danish sci-fi drama just released its third season this year.

BODYGUARD

We could watch Richard Madden all day. Bodyguard was a hit on the awards circuit, but still, not enough people have seen it. If anything proves Madden should be the next James Bond, it’s this steamy, action-filled limited series.

THE LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL

We are confident there are only two things we need to say to convince you to watch the action-packed The Little Drummer Girl: Florence Pugh and Alexander Skarsgard. That’s right; the BBC series stars two of the hottest actors working right now. I mean, what else do you need to know about it?
