SUPER HOT REGÉ-JEAN PAGE
Is Bridgerton's Breakout Actor the Next Bond?

Bridgerton has us buckling at the knees and aching for more episodes pronto. We can’t tell you how many times we’ve relived its steamiest moments. But there is one person from Shonda Rhimes’ fun-filled Netflix period drama that made us weak — and now everyone is screaming his name. Regé-Jean Page.
Aka Simon Basset. Yes, the dashing duke who swept Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) off her feet is the breakout star. What makes his character so great, you ask? Well, he’s a charming, studious duke with a modern disposition and his top priority is pleasing his wife. Because his character is likable, Page’s social following has increased to nearly 3 million followers and counting on Instagram.
The Bridgerton lead is a Zimbabwean-English actor. His acting career began in London, where he would take acting classes on weekends. His dedication to the craft landed him a spot at the Drama Centre London after two years of auditioning. Before Bridgerton, Page’s most notable credits included roles in Mortal Engines, the 2016 miniseries remake of Roots and For The People. This year, he appeared in the Tessa Thompson-led drama Sylvie’s Love, which you can watch on Amazon Prime.
The obsession with Page has become the focus of many articles on who he’s dating, his uncredited appearance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, and, of course, the rumor every good-looking British actor becomes the center of — Bond. James Bond.
Yes, fans and industry leaders alike are already advocating for Page to be the next 007. Even he has some thoughts on it: “I think there might be an element of cultural translation to be done here,” Page said on an appearance on The Tonight Show. “If you’re a Brit, and you do something of any kind of renown that people regard well, then people start saying the ‘B’ word. It’s like a merit badge. You get the ‘B’ word merit badge.”
The betting line has him at 5/1 for being the next Bond, but Bridgerton has been renewed for eight full seasons. It’s unclear if Simon and Daphne are the focus on seasons 2-8 given the anthology nature of its source material. We have a feeling, though, he will be back for season two. And thank you, goddess Shonda Rhimes for that. Now we can’t see a world without Regé-Jean Page.
